I think so. It is thicker than a regular waffle iron. Perfect for Liege Belgian waffles.

It is about 1 1/2. If you've ever used a waring pro like at a motel or somewhere, it will be similar but the bit can get a slight bit thicker because the lid isn't quite as tight as the commercial ones. Still worth the money for sure!
