• Yes, there is only one opening on the jar for the drink lid or the blade kit.

• The smoothie cup has a twist off lid for traveling. The bottom cap and blade attachment twists on the same side as the lid for blending.

• This product comes with three-(3) containers of different sizes and three screw on covers for them that have a flip open function to drink from. There is an additional screw on cover that contains the blade system and you do invert the container onto the Ninja to blend. Once blended you remove the blade system which cleans up easily under running water and attach the flip open cover to drink from. No pouring from one container to another as you blend in the one you use.

• roger, per your question, the opening is at the top of the jar, the blade is at the bottom and does not and or cannot be removed from the bottom of the jar.hope this helps
