Yes they do. If the smaller side is a bit low you just need to raise the slide a bit to get your fingers on it. Old toaster had to use a fork to get the smaller side.

Yes because you can push them up very high

Yes they do pop up well. One of the benefits of a wide slot toaster and lots of choices as to how dark or light you want breads cooked.

They don't pop up that high, but I've found the you can push the lever upwards and they come up high enough.
