Both dvd's and blu ray discs look really good on this player.I have been amazed at how good the picture is. I also have the OPPO-203 and the Panasonic has a better picture.So yes it does upscale both dvd and blu ray.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it will. But DVD and some older Blu-ray discs may have a lot of noise, so the image may be a little too grainy. But some of a better quality Blu-ray discs could look almost like real 4k.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I haven't tried a DVD, but I have used a Blu-ray and the output was 4K. Whatever output settings you put into the player in the settings menu, it will output at. I assume the same would apply to DVDs too. I will say this is an awesome player and I am able to get 4K @60Hz with YUV 4:4:4 no problem. I have verified the HDR capability, but not Dolby vision or HDR10+ (my Projector doesn't support). The picture is great and I recommend messing with the HDR Optimizer which will tone map the HDR content to the brightness of your display. This was another big option (that I think Panasonic only has right now) for me with a PJ, but I have seen demos (youtube) with panel displays and it helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I really haven't tried a DVD in it yet, but it does a great job with Blu-rays. Especially something like Oblivian. Although I think my TV also upscales content. (SonyXBR65Z9D)

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not really sure but I would say no. I think that if you play a regular DVD or a BLU Ray it may upscale as much as the software may allow. The player can not convert a regular DVD or BLU Ray disc to a 4K picture image. It may improve the image. To get 4K you must play 4k DVDs.
