• Either hub works with all Hues. The difference between Gen 1 & Gen 2 Philips Hubs are 2nd Gen is compatible with Siri & Apple HomeKit.

• Yes, I have the second and first gen working together with the second gen Hub, and I had second gen bulbs working with the First gen Hub before I got my 2nd gen hub (For HomeKit)

• The first generation hub will work with any Philips bulb (first, second or even third generation bulbs).
