A:Answer Thanks for your responses. I contacted Phillips Hue before I purchased and they said I could use the regular light switches if needed to turn the bulbs on and off. For example, if the internet goes down, if a smart device is not working or available nearby, if I lose my voice and do not want to pull up an app, if I forget the keywords, if my family wants to turn the lights on and off when they visit (they are not smart friendly), etc. This worked perfectly for a week, but then stopped working.
I finally got a good answer from their Customer Service today. There are no special settings required for this functionality. For example, having to leave the lights on in the app. There will be a push to the app in about a month that will fix the issue, which apparently started with their recent app update.
