Q: QuestionHow many strips are needed for an 80 in tv? If more than one are required, do they all sync together?

• A:Answer Three of these would be plenty and yes they all sync up. They come with their own connecting parts so they become one and they all operate together. Keep in mind that these strips have specific areas where you need to cut when trimming them to size so you will not be able to go to the very edge of the back of the tv. That's o.k. though, these lights are awesome and super bright. I have two of the Phillips Hue Play lights on the back of my 82 and they provide more than enough.

• A:Answer Hue's light-strips are not designed to be hardwired (they come with a plug adapter to plug into a wall socket). Philips Hue states that hardwiring the light strip will void the product warranty. If you do a quick internet search you can find people who have hardwired them with their own electrical knowledge, but since it's in opposition to the company's recommended use, any damage resulting from a hardwired unit would be the liability of the homeowner/renter.

• A:Answer Yes, the light will turn off with the switch as they are powered by the light socket and you will not have control until the light switch is turned back on. Also, if the switch is off, the lights will not follow any automation you created in the app.
