Q: QuestionHow does the White look? Is it comparable to other LED lights?
Asked by Tyler.
- A:Answer I bought the ambient white lights which are adjustable in white color temperature or kelvin. This means that you can adjust from a warm (yellowish) color to blueish white 2200K to 6500K. If you were to purchase the soft white lights they are a set 2700K which are not adjustable. A set color temperature. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionDo these work good for enclosed light fixtures?
Asked by Charlie.
- A:Answer I have put 4 in my dining room fixture in which the bulbs are enclosed. The lighting is perfect. My problem is getting Alexa to turn all 4 on and off. She will only turn one light on and off. Still a work in progress.

Q: QuestionWill these bulbs work in a three-way floor lamp (50, 75 & 100 watts settings)? If so, what setting should I set the floor lamp switch on (low, med or high) so that I can get the full functionality of the Philips-Hue Smart LED Bulb?
Asked by rburdon.
- A:Answer Those fixture work by applying current to different electrical contacts on a 3-way lightbulb, corresponding to different filaments that each prodcue a different brightness. Most LED bulbs won't have these separate contacts, and so what you'll see is that the bulb either just turns on full strength at every setting, or "skips" some of the settings, but you shouldn't ever notice any "halfway working" settings or anything like that. Some LED bulbs actually do have 3-setting brightness capabilities as well, and will work the same way as an incandescent bulb in those fixtures, but I don't believe that the Philips Hue bulbs are set up this way - meaning, the Hue bulbs will work totally fine in that fixture, they just respond to the "brightness" settings. For any given setting the bulb will either be *on* or *off*. I think for most people this is the preferable outcome anyhow, since the bulb has its own brightness control that you manipulate via your Phlips Hue control system, whether that's via a Philips Hue switch, or via the app, or via IFTTT, etc.

Q: QuestionHas anyone used these bulbs in an outside porch light (enclosed under porch so doesn't get any rain, snow, etc.)? Was wondering as then I would have the option to turn them on if I'm away when it gets dark.
Asked by Janisioux.
- A:Answer I currently use several Hue bulbs in outside light fixtures on my front and back porch. Have used them for over two years with no issues. As long as the bulb is close enough to communicate with the Hue hub you can control it while away.

Q: QuestionCan you use these as replacements for 3-way bulbs?
Asked by Asdjkl.
- A:Answer The only way you could is if you manually did it in the app. If you were to turn the switch on a lamp, it would not automatically work as a 3 way bulb.

Q: QuestionCan you automate these bulbs so that during the day they are 'daylight white' and will automatically transition to 'soft white' when the sun goes down? If so, is it easy to do in the Philips Hue app?
Asked by Irishstout99.
- A:Answer Yes, BUT this cannot be done through the Philips Hue app. There are several third party apps, some of which are recommended in the Philips Hue app, that can operate the lights changing color automatically on a schedule.
