You can use the cord separately and well as with the SmartClean System. This means you can use it easily when traveling and SmartClean is back home.

The shaver can be powered in the cleaning station or by just a cord.

You can charge it with a separate cord that it comes with. Don't have to use the SmartClean System to charge it.

The charging cord will plug directly into the body of the razor for charging the razor. You do not have to use the SmartClean System.
