Customers are saying

Customers praise the 9700 Clean & Charge Wet/Dry Electric Shaver's excellent shave quality, ease of use, and effective cleaning system. Many appreciate its long battery life and quiet operation, along with the convenience of wet/dry use. However, some customers find the price to be a significant drawback. The positive feedback on shaving performance and features outweighs concerns about cost for most users.

Great Razor (Norelco Razor 9700 - Black)

I've bought and used Norelco Razors in the past. All of the Norelco Razors that I've owned have worked well and have been long lasting. Most of the razors have lasted between 5-7 years on average. This razor is the best one of the Norelco Razors I've used. I've only owned it for a week, but if it lasts as long as the others I've owned, then this one will indeed have been the best electric razor I've owned. The dry shave is the same as past Norelco Razors. So if you are looking to compare to the dry razors, this one works as good as the other Norelco razors. I normally do a dry shave, with an occasional wet shave. The wet shave, I use Gillette's Fusion Proglide Sensitive Gel. It works great as a wet razor and I have no skin irritation. I've only owned one wet Norelco Razor prior to this one, and that razor worked fine but no where near as easy to use or clean. This razor, as mentioned by another post, allows to clean the razor with or without the clean system, which is a plus compared to other razors that only allowed one or the other, as using the cleaning system will charge the razor unnecessarily at times. The best features are being able to use it as a dry or wet razor, being able to change the power level / speed used (3 speeds to choose from) and being able to see what the actual battery life is. Otherwise, this razor basically compares to other Norelco Razors for both dry or wet, but just combined. It is pricey, I was able to get it for about 55 bucks off due to a Price Match. So you will definitely will want to shop around if you want to save money, like most of us do. The Con is the detachable side burn razor. It's easy to detach and reattach though, so it's not that big of a deal. But if you like to have an all in one, this razor doesn't offer that.

best electric shaver I have ever used

I was given a Norelco shaver over 10 years ago as a gift and was disappointed with how although I could shave with it, it was never a very close shave. Besides that, my skin has always been very sensitive, and I would break out after nearly every shave. Over a month ago I bought this model, from the 9700 series, and have been blown away by its quality. The shave is almost as close as some of the best manual shavers you can find. I can dry shave to the point that not only is all stubble gone, but that the skin on my face stays smooth for almost as long as when I've used a manual blade with shaving cream. The fact that this shaver cleans itself at the push of a button using the cleaning/charging base also takes a lot of maintenance issues out of the way. My skin and my wife are thankful for the purchase as now I get a great shave and my skin is in much better shape too. If you can afford this, get one!

I don't use it but the husband does and from what I can see compared to the old one he had its quieter and easier to clean. He just places it in the holder and cleans plus charges it at the same time. He also mentioned to me after about a week that he feels it gives a closer shave than his previous one.

I use this razor for my head and it does as good of a job as a 5 blade razor. Easy to clean, holds a charge well, read out tells you when to recharge. Cleaning station is a bonus, but does take up a bit of counter space.

as someone who prefers the close, simple shave of a screen razor, I have own many of Norelco rotary shavers and honestly this new top dog doesn't improve the shave much compared to its predecessor but still a worthy upgrade .. close shave, oddly quiet and rinses clean. In fact super quick and easy to rinse under the sink; all other razors i feel like i might be leaving a few wiskers behind .. not this one. wonder why even inclue that cleaner that takes forever to run a full cycle (4hrs). So why not a screen shaver, this takes a little more skill and time to shave .. payback is no razor burns or blood letting which I much appreciate..i also like using the low speed and saving some battery life as my wiskers are thin and easily cut. I whole heartedly recommend this razor or its the better priced sibling the 9300.

This is the best electric shaver I have ever owned! I love the fact that you can shave with it dry or wet. In fact, I get a better shave using it while wet. The cleaning and charging are as simple as can be. The only negative I would say about this shaver that it does take a long time for the cleaning cycle to complete. Recommend this shaver!

I have been using Norelco Shavers for the past six years. I am replacing the last one because the shave heads wore out and cost too much to replace. I bought this one because of the cleaning system. The battery lasts a very long time and I get a close shave. What else could you ask for? The cleaning system does a great job, too.

This is hands down the best shaver I have ever owned. It's waterproof and gives the closest shave. Being able to use it with standard shaving foam is weird at first but I prefer it to using a safety razor. I do recommend this this shave, if you got the money for it.

Owned this for a few weeks now. Purchased it on great sale (deal of day 50% off). It does a nice job cutting my tough beard. It runs quieter than my older 7000 series Norelco razor (that I replaced with this purchase and had owned for over 20 years.) Nice that it also works 'wet' with shaving gel/cream or in shower. Not quite as easy to rinse out inside the razor heads (all 3 pop off together and don't stay attached to body of razor-like my old 7000 model it just flipped up to dump out hair into garbage can). Only complaint I have so far is that the head of the razor smells stinky even after rinsing and washing it out a few times. I haven't used the cleaning cartridges and system it came with yet so that may help. I was waiting to use that until I had used the razor for a full month or so (as I'm still using my 7000 series at times too.) Otherwise, a great electric razor, easy to use, works well, nice hard travel/storage case, easy to read display and options on razor.

At first the razor head has to adapt to your skin per instructions and that's true. I was second guessing the purchase the first week but the second week the shaver started removing all facial hairs leaving smooth skin.

This could be a really great razor with a few updates. Would be nice if trimmer was part razor. Changing out head and trimmer is not good. Over time the head pops out more easily and is a pain when shaving my bald head.

this is the best razor I use this for 12 years, every time I buy the newest which is in the store, and the most expensive because I use it every day. It is very convenient, it is always with me, I am a driver and always on the move, so it is very convenient to shave even when I'm driving)

I haven't tried an electric shaver in over 30 years (found them uncomfortable and impractible). I got tired of missing spots on my "chromedome" using my regular razor and decided to give electrics a second look. Read all the online reviews and the Norelco stood out from the pack. I am totally won over. It is comfortable, quiet, easily adjusts to the contours of my face and head, and appears to be a quality item. I use it wet in the shower with a little shaving gel. The charge last just about a week of daily use. It wasn't an inexpensive purchase but for me, wort every penny. Love the cleaning/charging stand.

Purchased 30 December 2014 In my opinion it does not perform any better than my old SensoTouch 3D Shaver. I retired my SensoTouch 3D Shaver because the replacement heads got way too expensive – for those of you still using this shaver, you can change it to the same head as the 9000 series. One regret that I have is not going with the 9400 because I really don’t see the need for a digital readout for remaining battery life, whereas the bar display on the 9400 is more than adequate. The high and low speed adjustment is a bit of a gimmick – who would shave at less than full speed and power? Update 15 June 2015: I’ve just received a warranty replacement cleaning station. The cleaning fluid pump in the cleaning unit failed – the little electric motor shaft corroded right through and the impeller fell off. Update 27 June 2015: The head partially detaches with the slightest sideways force while shaving causing the drive coupling to disengage and screech. The head attachment on my old 3D is still solid.

I have had the Senso touch 3D for 6 years and loved it so I figured I’d buy the best again. It matches up to the Senso touch. I don’t like the removable pieces to trim the beard etc. really a step backward if you ask me. HOWEVER, if you still have your Senso touch, the head of this one pops off and fits it. I use it to travel with so I don’t have to carry parts. Quality of shave is on par with my old one. I feel it is overpriced but I’d buy it again.
