In basic terms: Ultimately the spacer is for older laptop models that have "extra" space in the hd slot. You can put the ssd in place without it, however there may be room for the ssd to move around/rattle. With the spacer, that extra room is filled. With newer laptops you will not have this issue at all (laptops are so much thinner than they used to be). Older higher end laptops (MacBooks) that still have room for a 2.5" hd, won't need the spacer (usually there are bracket screws to put into place). If you are wanting to put this into a 3.5in slot: 1st check your computer case and see if it already can support 2.5in. If not, you will need a 2.5 to 3.5 bracket. You can grab them for less than 6 bucks on Amazon.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Some SSD drives are 9.5mm thick, this one is 7mm thick, and they give you a 2.5mm spacer to take up the slack in newer cases that have drive bays for SSD drives
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Its a spacer with 2 adhesive strips on it that you can put on the SSD to increase the elevation of the SSD. Its made out of a semi thin plastic that is in the shape of a rectangle just about the length and width of the SSD itself, it is also hollow in the center, its pretty much an outline. Its recommended to place on the top of the SSD where the Company LOGO is, because if you put it on the bottom you'd be covering the screws.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, you will not be able to do that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The spacer can be used if there is a lot of space to help keep the drive tight (2 1/2 install).. If you want to install in the 3 and a half frame, you will need side rails or spacers wilt longer screws (but not to long).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This SSD is a smaller form factor than traditional 2.5" drives. The spacer ensures a tight fit through the height of the drive. You will still need a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter if you are replacing a 3.5 inch HDD.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, the space is not to mount in a 3.5 inch enclosure. The spacer to increase the width of the physical case by a few millimeters. Some drive mounts rely on the relatively thick case of a normal hard drive for mounting purposes. The SSD drive has a thinner case so the spacer is included to increase the case size if needed. Most drives are mounted with the screw holes (either side or bottom,) and do not need the spacer for proper placement.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The spacer is to mount into laptops. Most ssd drives are only 7mm thick and laptops are built big enough to fit old mechanical drive's which are 9mm thick and the spacer keeps your drive from bouncing around and getting damaged inside a laptop. If you're installing this in a case then you don't need the spacer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A spacer helps to fit a hard drive into a slot of a different size.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is. You have the answer. It sticks on the drive itself. That way when you put it on and put the casing back on you don't have a drive that's loose. It helps hold the drive in place.
