It's actually more like a 2.9 slot. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the cooling apparatus has some very beefy heat pipes and fins that effectively make it a 2.9 slot design. It also has an airflow passthrough on the back which is pictured, but altogether the cooling system keeps this card quite cool despite only being a dual fan set up.
