QuestionHello to all! I have a 2008 Mac Pro 2 X 3GHz Dual Core Intel Zeon computer with an NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256 MB, and would like to know if the GeForce GTX 760 2GB will be compatible, and if so, will be a good replacement for my existing video card.

- Answer From googling "2008 Mac Pro" and clicking on the link that takes one to the Apple support website we learn that we have: "Double-wide, 16-lane PCI Express 2.0 graphics slot with..." and "Three open full-length PCI Express expansion slots [One PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot, Two PCI Express x4 slots]". From googling "NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT" and clicking on the link that takes one to techpowerup's GPU database, we see that the card we are wanting to replace has three outputs (DVI, VGA, S-Video) and supports DirectX 9 and OpenGL 2.1. We also see the performance specs as well. Then, googling "nvidia GeForce GTX 760" and again clicking on the link that takes one to techpowerup's GPU database, we see that the card we are considering has as outputs: 2 x DVI, 1 x HDMI, and 1 x DisplayPort. So we are losing VGA and S-Video connectivity, but gaining HDMI and DisplayPort. Is that relevant in your particular situation? We also see that the card supports DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.6 which helps with meeting minimum requirements of newer software. We also see that the performance of this card very brightly outshines the performance of the card we are replacing. So now we need to consider the power requirements of the card versus the power available. This candidate card has a TDP of 170 Watts. Returning to the Apple support website we see that 300 Watts is available, which is good. But then we notice that this card we are considering is expecting a PCIe 3.0 bus and the Mac Pro has a PCIe 2.0 bus. Can a PCIe 3.0 card be used in a PCIe 2.0 machine? I don't know the answer, but I bet it can be found with Google.

QuestionMy Dell Optiplex 390 has no graphics card, just an Intel adapter. My video streaming is very dark and fuzzy. All I want from a graphics card is bright, clear video streaming and clear text in Word, and a quiet fan. Is this a good choice for me?

- Answer If that's all you're doing with it, than yes. Because that doesn't take up too much power to stream videos to your computer,but it can't handle much and can easily be over powered or over heated. However, I would recommend if your computer can handle it a GTX 950/960. I don't think it would be necessary to buy a gtx1050 but if you did you wouldn't have to worry about over powering it or overheating. Sorry for the long answer but I also wanted to suggest other ideas. Hoped this helped

- Answer Yes you could, but the GT 710 isn’t really that powerful. It’s best use case is for being compliant with modern software for upgrading purposes and being very low power in servers, it won’t give your graphics/rendering abilities much of a boost. A GTX 1050Ti/1060 in an external box is better for that, or an AMD RX 570 or 580. Even an AMD RX 560 would be a better choice.

- Answer No laptop has expansion slots. Video is integrated on the board and can not be changed.

- Answer you will need to look at the motherboard specs to find out what types of slot/s it has, and what version of communications ie PCIX8,, PCI X16,, ETC.. will need to make sure there are drivers available for version of windows you are running, as to if one is better than the other, would have to have specs for each to compare, many,, many features to compare, one might have faster screen rates, but lower memory, or resolution rates, CPU on card speeds,, can even get down to chip sets on card.. both your questions can only be answered by providing more info,, you need to research and learn,, have fun.

- Answer Yes you can go on Amazon and find an HDMI splitter or a cheap GPU like the gtx 950/960 for the same price as the 710 altho you will need to open the PC and stick in the card altho be cautioned when buying anything more power-hungry because the low power headroom for most hp/dell/Lenovo PC is tiny so make sure the power consumption is under 75 watts, good luck!.
