Yes, the elliptical does have handles. You use them to mount the elliptical while stepping on the pedal in the lowest position. Then, step onto the other pedal. Push the pedals until they begin to move with a continuous motion. The pedals can turn in either direction. The arms will also move as you use the pedals, giving you both a lower body and upper body workout.

The two hand-grip sensors built into the handlebars let you see your heart rate while you train. If you are grabbing onto these handlebars mid-workout, the sensor is booting up your heart rate monitor.
We’re sorry this starts over your workout. To prevent this, hold the hand grip heart rate monitor with your palms resting against the contacts. Avoid moving your hands or gripping the contacts tightly.
For the most accurate heart rate reading, hold the contacts for at least 15 seconds.

Hi there! As any heavy-duty exercise equipment, assembly can be a challenge as the parts weigh a lot and tight connections are required while carefully making sure not wires get pinched.
This treadmill in particular needs two people and an hour and a half on average for assembly using an adjustable wrench, a rubber mallet, phillips head screwdriver, plastic bag, and grease packet (included).
