Basically anywhere you may have a device (Xbox, blu-ray player, AV receiver, etc) that may be behind a closed door in a cabinet or that is always difficult to control with a remote because of distance is where this product would come in and assist to make controlling your devices easier. You can even use this with a TV, it simply put will extended the range in which your remote can function properly.

If I want to switch from playing a game on the Xbox to watching tv, I press one button and all of the inputs are changed, and the directv is turned on. If I want to turn the volume up right after changing the channel I don't have to reach for a separate remote as this controls my home theater, and my directv receiver. For people in the house who are not as tech savvy, they only have to press one button to get everything to work. For people like me who have way too many things hooked up to their tv, this makes switching back and forth between devices super easy.
