Hi Slickster, We would need to know more about the wireless adapter - is it plugged directly into your PlayStation or PC or is it plugged into the charging base and then into your PlayStation or PC? What color is the indicator light on the adapter? It should be red when powered but not connected, purple when it's connected to the headset. If it's red and the headset says "not connected", you may need to do a manual pairing of the headset to the wireless adapter.
