- Answer You do not have to use the Echo to speak with person at your door. When your phone/tablet is horizontal and you are in Live view, you should have button on the screen that indicates the sound. If the sound is not on mute you should be able to converse.

- Answer I had a previous Ring doorbell for 3 years and the button didn't wear out. As for the chime - since you use the wiring for your existing doorbell, you use the same chime.

- Answer You dont need a chime or to hook up the extra thing in the box that it tells you to. Just wire it up and it uses your existing door bell

QuestionI bought a house and the sellers had 3 video doorbells. They are leaving the doorbells with the house. Can the doorbells be used by me? And if so, do the doorbells have away, like a code, to secure them so the previous owners can't access the doorbells?

- Answer Once you set up your Ring account and assign those devices to you (with your own password), the previous owners cannot accesss them.

- Answer If you set up your base and your phone/computer/etc. to receive the motion alerts, you will get a "standard" signal. You do not need a chime. However, if you have a "regular" doorbell in the house, the wires outside will connect to that and operate it. There are lots of videos on Ring to help!

- Answer If you have the Ring plan - basic or premium, I believe it stores each for 60 days. If no plan, no recordings are stored to the cloud; however, you can still view outside via live view and answer a motion/ring with camera.

- Answer It runs on your existing door bell. Dont know why you would want a chime. Maybe if you were in the back yard or pool

- Answer No, but they do provide a battery and you can buy an extra to have one always charged. They last about a month with general use.
