- Answer You can use it without an existing doorbell. There are wired and wireless models. I have the wireless one, did not purchase a Ring chime and my Echo notifies me when someone rings the doorbell but many times if I'm expecting someone, they activate it before they ever even get to the door so many times I meet them before they ring the bell.
