A:AnswerDonna I simply used the Velcro double sided tape suppled with the. Able box to mount it right on the back of the tv out of sight, no shelf, no unsightly cable box just a nice clean install where you only see the tv.

A:AnswerI have left my 27" TV mounted during travel without any issues. The TV area for the mount is pretty sturdy, made of 5/8's inch plywood with a veneer. See the attached photo.
A:AnswerIt can be installed without going into a stud but that is not a very good idea as, even though the TV isn't very heavy, it will come loose over time and wiggle the screws in the wall.

A:AnswerI don't know if you can get spacers for this mount. A better solution might be to use a piece of 2x4 between the wall and the mount. Since the wood will be behind the tv, you might not see it and it wouldn't look to bad. Just make sure you mount the 2x4 on the wall where there is a stud to secure it and then screw the mount into the 2x4 to extend it another 1 3/4".
