• There are apps that offer free streaming and others pay service. Ton of free ones though. The ones that usually offer free streaming movies usually have like 2-3 short commercials.

• Roku supports hundreds of channels, some free, some you have to pay for. Roku has its own channel with free content. For something like ESPN, HBO, or History Channel most likely you will have to pay a fee, which varies depending ont he channel. You can also get a subscription like NetFlix, Hulu, or Sling. If you want to watch local channels and free TV, I recommend the Tablo device (linked to this review) plus an HD antenna, which allows you to stream free HD programming to any TV on your house that has a Roku. It's a great combination. In Austin we get over a dozen channels.

• Some services are for free, other are paid. There is a full library on free streaming apps you can watch
