QuestionI want a microwave that will not only replace my existing vent-to-roof hood that vents the stove top, but will also vent ITSELF. In other words, I want a microwave that will vent the stinky food cooking inside of it, up and out of the roof.

QuestionHow much depth does this slim microwave hood require? The space above my range is only 12 inches deep.

- Answer It’s usually normal size of the cabinets unless it’s custom made about 14” or even 16”. I have an exactly 12” depth and the unit is 19” in total which gives about 7” out from the cabinets as it supposed to be a ventilation hood option. So it perfect size and will fit in a12” depth of the cabinets just perfect.

- Answer Mine vents out through my ceiling/ roof. That is how my original vent was set up. Yes it is tight to my upper cabinets.

- Answer Hi Sam, Our Samsung over-the-range microwaves are designed to be mounted on the wall in between cabinets and/or placed above a range. No obstacle should be below the microwave since this can also function as a hood vent. We shared the installation manual link below for the suggested installation for this microwave. Questionhow can i switch from recirculating to venting to wall outside or venting to the top (model #me11a7510)

- Answer You need to remove the metal plate at the top of the outside of the microwave . This will allow the air to flow out of the microwave into the ductwork. you may need to reorient the fan in order to direct it up, or out the back of the microwave.
