“What kind of bracket is included with this microwave? Does the bracket mount on the back wall or is it U shaped and take up room on the sides when installed. We have just 30 inches of width between cabinets and want to make sure it will fit.”

The SMH1622S comes with a single, horizontal bracket that mounts on the wall behind the microwave, as well as bolts to attach the microwave to the cabinets above it. This model, along with other Samsung over the range microwaves, is 29-7/8" wide and is designed to fit in a 30" opening. - Ms. Samsung
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The mount is flat and goes on the back wall. There are no side brackets whatsoever, and nothing to impede the unit from sliding directly into a 30" opening.
