that would be the magnetron engaging. The most failed part in todays microwaves. On start, It takes a few sec to purge the radiation or less stress on the unit, then produces the load noise of the 1100 watts. Also, prior to the unit timer counting last seconds down, the noise with stop to help reduce radiation. So, normal for mine to repeatably do this noise thing (sounds like the electricity load has lifted now the 1100 watts inst making noise) Just remember abruptly door opening during cooking radiation comes out of the cooking field at you.

It's difficult to determine from your question whether the noise you're hearing is from the microwave components themselves, from the internal fan that helps to cool these components, or from the powerful exhaust fan, as well as whether it is louder than it normally would be. I would suggest checking the installation to ensure all bolts, filters and other parts such as the turntable and roller ring are secure. Parts that are accessible during installation such as the blower motor, adapter and exhaust vents may also create unnecessary noise if they aren't installed correctly. - Ms. Samsung
