“I plan to install this microwave as a built in microwave, surrounded by the kitchen cabinets. I have the wall oven installed and have some space above it, and thinking to buy this microwave to install on top of the oven. I do not plan to use the vent. How far the door will protrude out? thanks.”

welll measure from the wall out 18 inches. bingo depending if the back is flush to wall may be 17.69" then measure how far the microwave sticks out. Remember the hinge on the left my impede if recessed to far back

While you may not plan on using the exhaust fan, if it or the cook top light were to be turned on inadvertently, they could potentially damage the surface below it and the microwave itself. The vents below the microwave are also necessary for providing air circulation to cool the microwave components, and the recirculating vent at the top front edge of the microwave serves as an outlet for exhausting the air from inside the cavity, as well as the area beneath it. - Ms. Samsung
