The SMH1816S microwave requires a dedicated 20-amp circuit in order to function properly, but it's fine to plug it into your current 120V/60Hz grounded 3-prong outlet as long as nothing else is plugged into it at the same time. Thanks for your interest, Ms. Samsung

Please try again later.The SMH1816S runs on a 110V outlet and the wattage is 1,100W, This is considered a heavy load, and I would recommend a dedicated outlet along with a separate CIRCUIT in your CIRCUIT BREAKER BOX. Otherwise, what could happen is that some other devices (such as a TV, or fridge, or lamp) that share the same circuit with his microwave could go out when this microwave starts. This work must be done by a certified electrician and costs $$$.
