I also replaced a Sharp Carousel OTR microwave with the Samsung model. I was glad to see Sharp out of the microwave market (don't even know if they are still in business). I had mine in for repairs twice over 10 years before it finally died. I will say that I prefer Sharp's mounting bracket to Samsung's. This model required not only the wall mount bracket, but it also requires you to drill two holes into the bottom of the cabinet you are mounting it to. It is clumsy to remove the old micro and install a new one, so I would definitely recommend that you elist the help of a friend to help you install it. I don't think that is possible for only one person to install it without risk of injury or damage.

The SMH1816 can be set up to vent outside from the rear or top of the unit, or filtered air can be recirculated into the room from vents located in the front that are concealed from view. If venting outside, some light construction may be necessary to cut holes in the cabinet above the microwave or in the exterior wall of your kitchen, where duct work would need to be installed. Some cutting and drilling will likely be necessary regardless of which method of venting you choose. For this reason, the installation of many over the range microwaves is considered to be moderately difficult. Installation instructions are included with the new microwave and can also be downloaded as a pdf file from Samsung's website. For more information about installation packages that are available in your area, I would suggest calling 888-BEST BUY or consulting with your local Best Buy appliance associates. - Ms. Samsung
