“Recirculating (Non-vented ductless) Page 11 of installation instructions states "A Charcoal Filter Accessory Kit is required for the non-vented exhaust. (See your Owner's Manual for the kit number.) There is not a kit number in the owner's manual. Per the instructions for recirculated (non-vented ductless) on page 13 there is a grill in the front instead of a flat panel. Do I need to purchase a kit and if so where at?”

I didn't use a kit and I have a ductless unit and it works fine and there are no problems with mine.

Thanks for the question. Your SMH1816 should have come with a charcoal filter that can be installed behind the hidden vent. If it did not, please call 888-BEST BUY or 800-SAMSUNG for assistance. While the installation instructions may show an illustration of an exposed grill design, the process for installing the filter is the same. You can also refer to page 22 of the user manual for instructions to install and replace the charcoal filter. - Ms. Samsung
