“I am looking to purchase this for a 10 year old, and wondering what difference is between looking at 2 gb or 4gb? Obviously I am not computer savvy, but want him to have the best w/in my price range which this particular computer falls into.”

2GB should be pretty of memory for a 10 yr old, unless they plan on running a business from their laptop and saving large files and Artwork, music, etc. Either way you can't go wrong.
