I'm happy to help with this, pattynor! If the light next to the "Ice Off" button is lit up, then the ice maker is actually turned off. To turn the ice maker back on, tap the Ice Off button; you should see the indicator light turn off. Light is for ICE OFF. So, light comes on when you turn ICE off.

It says freezer off so when the light is on the freezer does NOT make ice . When the light is off the freezer MAKES ice. That is how mine works . Hope this helps if not you may want to call Samsung directly.
