QuestionWhat is the minimum width needed to ensure each door can open to 90 degrees?I’ll soon be moving into a home that was built in 1956. The current spatial dimensions of our refrigerator space are as follows: 31”D x 69-1/2”H x 32”W. The depth measurement actually varies – to the left is a wall with a depth measuring 36”; to the right is the dishwasher and counter with a depth of 31”. See photos for clarification. If we purchase this model, will we be able to open the doors to 90 degrees or are we too space constrained?

- Answer The RF220NCTASR measures 29-3/4" wide with a case depth of 30-1/2". Samsung recommends leaving at least 1" on each side and 2" in the rear for air circulation and to allow the door hinges to swing open. It appears that the handles on both the right and left sides will be able to clear the neighboring walls in your kitchen without a problem allowing the doors to open 90-degrees. Keep in mind that you may need to pull the refrigerator out a few inches or remove door bins when you wish to remove the crisper drawers completely (such as for cleaning), since the doors will need to be opened more than 90-degrees on those occasions. QuestionQUESTION ABOUT RF220NCTASRhello- i saw in a review from this Best Buy page that you say the height of this refrigerator is 66 3/4 tall with the hinges, but the Samsung website & the live chat help i just spoke to has the height at 67 7/8? Can you tell me why your measurement is different? my space is limited- 67 is max!

While the actual installed height can vary slightly depending on how much the front leveling legs need to be adjusted, the correct height of the RF220NCTASR is 66-3/4" with the hinges. It's worth noting that the case height is 65-3/8", and Samsung recommends leaving 2" above the case for air circulation. We appreciate your interest in Samsung, Ms. Samsung

- Answer Thanks for the question. The RF221 models feature an internal water dispenser in the fridge compartment while the RF220 does not. The other difference is the finish; the RF220NCTASR and RF221NCTASR both have real stainless steel exterior finishes, while the RF221NCTASP features Samsung's Stainless Platinum finish which resembles real stainless but is fingerprint-resistant and magnetic. All three of these models measure 29-3/4" wide and feature HE LED lighting, flexible shelving and an automatic icemaker in the freezer. We appreciate your consideration! Ms. Samsung

QuestionI ordered this appliance and the delivery date keeps getting pushed back. Best Buy is telling me it's Samsung but they can't get any info. What's the deal? Is this how Samsung does business? Should I cancel my entire order and choose a diff brand?

- Answer I had the same issue. The store won't tell you but, when I called regarding my order, I was told that it gets built at the factory, and it usually takes about six weeks. It's a special order. Not a common size refrigerator.

- Answer Thanks for your interest in Samsung's RF220 and RF221 French Door Refrigerators. Both of these models measure 29-3/4" wide. To open the door at least 90-degrees in order to fully access the crisper drawers, you'll need at least 3-3/4" clearance on the side that has the solid wall. Your 37-1/4" opening will allow the doors to open more than 90-degrees, which will be helpful for removing the drawers on occasion for cleaning. - Ms. Samsung

QuestionI just had a waterline for icemaker installed yesterday. As of today, I don't see ice being made yet. What is the normal time for ice maker to begin making ice? Do I need to turn on something that I didn't do to make it work?

- Answer It took several hours before the first ice was made and then took a day or two before there was enough for the two of us! Be patient it's a great ice maker. It did suggest turning the fridge temp higher to begin with to get it to the right temp then turning it to your desired temp, it suggested 2 days . we're very pleased with it.

QuestionThere is not a water line in the kitchen where this fridge will sit. So I don't need a water or ice maker. Does this fridge have an ice maker or water dispenser and if so can they be removed so not wasting space?

- Answer I have no water line for my fridge either, and just purchased this refrigerator; installation was very quick and easy, since the ice maker did not need to be hooked up. no noticeable loss of space from the existing ice maker- fits great in my kitchen and has plenty of space for my needs (2 person household)

- Answer Hi Kyburz, The RF221NCTAWW has an automatic ice maker in the freezer and a water dispenser located on the left interior wall of the refrigerator compartment. It does not have a built-in water filtration system, but you can attach an external filter if you choose by following the installation instructions in the user manual. Please contact Best Buy or a local plumber for assistance selecting an external filtration system that best suits your needs. - Ms. Samsung

- Answer Thanks so much for asking! If the "Ice Off" icon is lit up, the ice maker is turned off and will not produce any more ice. However, even with the ice maker off, the dispenser will continue to dispense ice until the bucket is empty. ^Jecca

QuestionDoes the freezer drawer tilt out or just pull out straight, the one we currently have tilts out so you can reach inside without pulling the drawer fully open, which is why we need a new fridge now.

- Answer It pulls straight out. There is a tray in the top of the drawer for the ice maker and some storage that slides back exposing the bottom storage.

QuestionI am a bit confused over a simple light for the ice maker. I want the ice function turned off as I don’t have a water line to make ice. Should the light be turned on or off ?? Will turning off the ice function reduce the noise level of the refrigerator?

- Answer I'm happy to help with all of this, Michigangirl! For this model, if the little blue light next to the "Ice Off" button is lit up, then the ice maker is turned off. If your ice maker has been turned on without a water line connection, turning it off should help with some noises. However, I do also have this link (https://bit.ly/3uooHs0) that has some great information about the sounds you may hear from the refrigerator and what causes them. It also has steps you can take if you're hearing abnormal noises. ^Jecca
