Questiondoes it have very strong smell when new and for how long?When new, does this dishwasher have a strong chemical, plastic, or rubber type smell for the first several uses and if so how long did it take for the smell to fade? We have a young child wIth asthma and have to be very careful because new products like this can sometimes give her troubles. Would appreciate as many responses as possible. Thanks!

- Answer I would not recommend this product at all. The smell was terrible with the stainless interior. I have never encountered a smell like this from a dishwasher. I also have asthma so I am very aware of fumes and smells from new items. It did not cause an attack for me but it was very unpleasant.

QuestionWater leaks from the bottom of the doorForm day one water has leaked from the bottom of the door. Service changed the control board - supposedly to reduce the amount of water but it has not stopped it leaking water. Anyone else had this problem and got it resolved? Samsung service has been extraordinarily slow and ineffective.

Questiondoes the Samsung Dishwasher DW80F800UWS need an air gap?Does the Samsung Dishwasher DW80F800UWS need an air gap? We are about to install and would prefer not to drill a hole in our counter. Does not having the air gap affect performance? Would the dishwasher work better with an air gap installed? I have read that to avoid the air gap, you can make a upside down U loop in the drain line under the counter. Thanks!

- Answer Hi Jeremy, Thanks for your interest in the DW80F800UWS! Whether or not you need an air gap depends on your local building codes. The installation guide for the DW80F800UWS includes instructions for installing it with or without an air gap. The purpose of the air gap (or loop) is to prevent dirty water from flowing back into the dishwasher from the drain; it doesn't directly impact performance. - Ms. Samsung

QuestionWhat color are the indicator lights?I have a SS Samsung french door fridge with a nice ice-blue display. I want to complete my kitchen set with Samsung products so everything matches, including handles, but ONLY if the display color matches (ie Range, microwave, dishwasher)...nothing worse than that antiquated green/yellow LCD crystal display!

- Answer The display color is blue. I don't have a French door fridge yet so I'm not sure if it's the same icy blue you're referring to.

QuestionNot cleaning wellWe have had this DW since November. Every other load requires additional cleaning of plates or silverware. Was told by Samsung service I was using too much detergent and that I should cut the Cascade pods into 3 or 4 pieces! Then I turned up the water temperature but now I need to run the hot water at the sink first then start the machine. I guess I cannot use the delay feature unless I set an alarm to wake up and run the hot water first. For all the energy savings in the machine I am wasting more outside of the machine.

- Answer Are you using Jet Dry, or a similar product? We had a similar experience initially, but it got better after using Jet Dry.

QuestionHow does this unit lock?Older dishwashers have a lever that you push or move to the side to begin operation so that it's not opened while it's washing. How do I keep my toddler from opening this model while it's running and if it locks automatically does that mean I can't add items once the cycle has begun? Thanks.

- Answer There is a child lock button on the control panel. I have not used it so not sure how it works. Appears that it just requires more force to pull open the door when the option is on.

- Answer I don't have that problem. There is a drain button on the right hand side. Try pressing that if there is water on the bottom.
