“On the Samsung gas cooktop model NA36N7755TG can the WIFI module be removed? It juts out too far and my granite backsplash limits me to less than an inch of clearance behind the back edge of any cooktop. I do not need a WIFI option/accessory.”

Yes it can. You have to remove the entire top, disconnect the plug and insert the blank they have in the box.
