QuestionWater temperature settingsI have looked online and in the manual, called support, and tried chat support, but I cannot find any information about the temperature settings on my washer. What exactly do they mean? If I select Hot - why does it mix/cycle with cold? What is the difference between Warm and Eco warm? What are the rinse temperatures for each setting?

- Answer I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulty finding the information you're looking for. The target temperature ranges for the WF405 are 105°-125°F for Hot, 85°-105°F for Warm, 66°F for Eco Warm, and 60°-85°F for Cold (this information has been updated as of January ’13). The standard rinse temperature for all cycles is cold. It isn't unusual for the washer to draw both hot and cold water during the fill process as it measures the temperature, particularly when warm or cold is selected. I would suggest reviewing the information on page 36 of the User Manual in the Troubleshooting section entitled "Fills with the wrong temperature water" for tips to help address this. If you've selected Hot water and cold water is entering the machine, it's possible the hoses are switched or the water in your hot water pipe is cold from lack of use. Try running a nearby hot water faucet to flush the lines before starting a wash cycle. If you continue to have cold water entering the washer when Hot is selected after checking the troubleshooting tips, please call 888-BEST BUY or 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further. - Ms. Samsung

QuestionI bought this last week, and it shakes when washing...It shakes when this washer spins. I'm going to call to replace - is there anything I can do?

- Answer The most common cause of a Samsung front load washer, including the WF405ATPASU, shaking is not being leveled properly. Before returning the washer, please review the installation procedures which can be found in the user manual and in the Support section of Samsung's website. These include: - making sure the shipping bolts are removed; - adjusting the legs so the washer is level front to back and side to side; - tightening the locks on the leveling legs so they don't change position over time. Once leveled, the washer should not be able to "wobble" when you apply pressure to any of the four corners. Try running a test cycle without anything inside. It's normal for there to be a small amount of vibration during the initial spin phase, but the Vibration Reduction Technology should take effect as the spin speed increases from medium to high and the vibration should virtually disappear. If it does not, the legs may need to be further adjusted. If these suggestions, aided by the troubleshooting videos and how-to articles on Samsung's website, don't help to resolve the issue, please call 888-BEST BUY or 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further. - Answer Yes. We bought this washing machine over Christmas and the delivery guy not only did a great job installing it, he even moved the dryer over so that it was easier to move a load from the washing machine to the dryer. They have installed two of my washing machines and always do a great job. Very efficient and professional.

- Answer The current line-up of Samsung front load washers and matching dryers are stackable using the SK-5A stacking kit accessory to secure the dryer on top of the washer. The top load models are not stackable. Thanks for your interest! Ms. Samsung

QuestionHow come I see no Suds during the wash?I fill detergent to max line... once wash starts water comes out with detergent and I see it foaming, but it's like it all drains out (to the front bottom of the door inside) ... and there is no suds and water during the wash cycle?? Isn't there suppose to be some water left in it with suds??

- Answer Thanks for the question. The Power Foam feature in your WF405 washer helps to dissolve the detergent quickly so it penetrates fabrics much faster and more thoroughly than traditional methods. Because of this, it's likely that the foam is being absorbed as it comes in contact with the garments. In addition, the drums in Samsung front load washers tilt toward the back, so there is likely somewhat more water in the washer than you realize. These factors, combined with the fact that high efficiency washers are designed to use less water than traditional top loaders and the recommended HE detergents are designed to produce less suds, mean that it's normal for excess suds and water to be virtually invisible. - Ms. Samsung

QuestionWasher depth specificationsThe depth listed for the white version of this model is deeper than the platinum version. I can't find the white version on the Samsung website to check. If you look up the owner's manual for this model number, the depth matches what is listed for the platinum model. Is this an error or are they different?

- Answer Thanks for the question. The actual depth of the WF405 washer is 32-1/4" (rounded to 32.3" in the manual) regardless of the color. The 34" measurement may be referring to the required depth when installing the unit on a pedestal. - Ms. Samsung

Questioncomparing samsungs WF405ATP versus WF511 Front loaderThe specs say the 405 has a 2nd rinse and the 511 has not? The 405 has the extra speed spray? does that mean more efficient, less wash time and is the speed spray on every wash and rinse cycle? I'm hoping the VRT & VRT Plus that either one would be beneficial having on the 2nd floor (on linoleum). I was just concerned on how many rinse cycles each machine went through.

SpeedSpray is activated in Normal, Bedding PLUS, Deep Steam, Stain Away and Eco Cold cycles. Both the WF405 and WF511 offer the Extra Rinse option, and both VRT and VRT Plus are very effective in reducing noise and vibration, including upstairs. - Ms. Samsung

- Answer Have you tried buying washing machine cleaner? (Yes it's real. I have seen it at target) I run the longest hottest setting with baking soda in the detergent tray. Then I run the longest hottest setting with a out a cup of white vinegar. I have heard if people using powdered country time lemonade instead of soap on the longest hottest setting. Good luck!

- Answer Thanks for the question. The WF405 has several nozzles that are visible at the top of the doorway, three of which are relevant to SpeedSpray and Steam. SpeedSpray uses a nozzle on the left during the wash cycle to spray water containing dissolved detergent into the clothes; the nozzle on the right sprays clean water during the rinse cycle. The small middle nozzle is used during Steam cycles. At times it may be difficult to actually see the water or steam spraying from the nozzles depending on the amount of soapy water or clothing that's pressing against the glass. - Ms. Samsung
