• Of course you can yes this TV will work without HD my cable has both HD and regular and it works just fine.

• TV will work, regardless of your cable package. However, you should opt for an HD cable box from your cable company, regardless of which channels you pay for, if you want to get the higher resolution an HD TV offers.
