Also, depending on if the tv is placed with a solid wall behind it can influence the quality of the sound (ability to have sound bounce off versus get consumed). Still, yes you can get the added external speaker and have it connected. I chose to defer spending $300 to get the speakers they showed on their display floor. I may get one when I move into my new home. For now I am ok with the sound and adjustments inherent in the tv.
