Yes, all cooktops get warm when the oven is on. The vent is in the back of the cooktop. I keep my griddle in the drawer when I'm not using it so I don't set something on top without thinking. This way you have the whole top to set the pan on when you take it out of the oven to rest or cool.

The installers pointed out that the oven exhausts over the stove from just under the display; so things will get pretty warm there. I actually just recently used that to keep some food warm while waiting for the stuff in the oven to get done. So in my opinion, it's kind of handy. Just be careful you don't have something there that you don't want heated up.
