Hi Lily R., The knobs on the NX58H5600SS Gas Range are made primarily of a high temperature plastic, and are weighted for durability and ‘feel’, then chrome-coated and brushed for a “stainless look”. This design ensures an optimal combination of durability, safety and aesthetics. Thanks for your interest, Ms. Samsung

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They are plastic and 3 of 5 broke within 2 years. They BSS are $89/each! Cheaper to buy a new stove.

Mine broke within two years and replacement of these cost $75 a piece, i.e. $375 alone for the new set of knob, for a range that I purchased for $750. Samsung should do better job, and if the replacement of something as small as knob cost half the price of the actual device, make me wonder. Thanks
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just purchased this range and can confirm what Ms. Samsung said - plastic, chromed-plated knobs that have a hidden metal disc behind it that adds weight. Overall "feel" is stainless steel, and it is very convincing to the touch. To add to that impression, Samsung's next model down is unweighted black plastic, so when you compare models in the store it is easy to conclude that paying more gives you a knob upgrade. I suppose it does make some sense, though, to make the outer structure from plastic, since metal conducts heat much better and would probably be more likely to become dangerously hot.
