- Answer Those are some great questions, Cath! To help with this, first I'm providing this link (https://bit.ly/3y92Ojx) to the user manual. Page 28 discusses the kitchen timer feature that beeps when the set time has elapsed, but does not start or stop cooking functions. Page 33 talks about the timed cook feature that only works with the oven compartment and shuts off the heating elements when the set time has elapsed. ^Jecca

- Answer Good answer, but I think it may be answering the wrong question. The OP asked about the grates, which I think means the cast iron grates on the stove top burners. This is my question as well, but it appears as I read the response that the answer referred to the oven racks. So, can the cast iron grates on the stove top be cleaned in the self-cleaning oven?

- Answer Per page 23 of the user manual, If a power failure occurs, the surface burners can still be lit manually. **NOTE** Use extreme caution when manually lighting a surface burner. 1. Hold a long gas grill lighter to the surface burner you want to light. 2. Push in and turn the control knob for that burner to the LITE position. 3. After the burner has lit, set the control knob and the burner to the desired setting. ^Lo
