I would say no. Use the HDMI Cable from the DVD player to the TV. Use the optical cable from the TV to the sound bar. During setup, make sure you disable the TV speakers and enable external speakers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not sure I responded correctly. The DVD sound travels to the TV via HDMI plugged into the sound-in slot. The sound travels out from the TV via a different sound-out slot using HDMI or Optical cable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you need two HDMI cables. The soundbar has an HDMI In port (from the blu-ray) and an HDMI out port (to the TV). Make sure you plug one cable into the HDMI-ARC port on the tv and then into the HDMI out port on the soundbar. Then connect another cable from the HDMI in port on the soundbar to the HDMI port on your blu-ray player.
