“Low volume? I just purchased refurbished ones from Best Buy. I connected my 55 inch TV via optical cable. I have to turn up the volume to at least 20 for me to get decent sound. Is this normal? I am not hard of hearing. Thanks.”

I keep mine at about level 14 and it is plenty loud. Is your subwoofer synced up? That helps carry the sound without the need to turn the volume up.

I also have a 55 inch samsung TV and i have to put the volume up between 13 and 18 it order to enjoy the volume depending on the channels. It also depends on how big is your living room. The bigger the living room the higher the volume. I go up with the volume when I am watching movies and the volume and the buffer are insanely awesome.
