• Directtv ready yes. Mine is connected to a mini as it is in another room. Hook up should be the same as your old tv.

• I have just bought this TV and have hooked up my Direct TV mini to this. It walks you through the setup with the Samsung remote. Then you only have one remote to control all. And yes, you still need to use genie and/or mini.
