“Can this TV output 5.1 surround sound out of the optical audio output? Samsung I would love your input. Mine receives all it's sound via hdmi from my hdmi devices and all that sound is sent from the TV's optical audio output to my 5.1 home theater audio receiver. When changing channels on directv or just every now and then the sound will blip, buzz, or cut out for a second. This is only when audio output settings on tv is set to dolby digital. When i change it to output as PCM audio it doesn't do it anymore. I noticed when a channel on directv has dolby digital audio the TV is outputting the dolby digital 5.1 to my home theater via the optical output just fine as it is playing through all 5 speakers. When a source doesn't have dolby digital it only plays through front speakers as it should. So why does it blip or buzz every now and then? I've noticed it does it more when the source i'm watching doesn't have dolby digital and the tv is set to output as dolby digital. Another thing I noticed is it won't output surround sound it receives from my blu ray player via hdmi even though i have the audio output settings on the blu ray player set to dolby digital and bitstream. It only plays through the front speakers. But it can output 5.1 from the directv receiver? How is this all supposed to work? Is my TV defective or is there more to dolby digital and optical than i know? This seems like way too expensive of a tv to have these issues and to have to constantly switch between dolby digital and pcm settings.”
