There’s a down arrow on the bottom of the back of the remote. Pull down on the arrow and then you will have a gap at the top and you can lift the back cover out at that point.

I put my thumb on the bottom with my nail in the divide between top and bottom and then just give it downward pressure from the sides with your other hand. Don't worry, everything inside is protected.
