Unless you are seeing "sparkles" in the display the cable is probably ok. HDMI is digital, so the signal either gets to the TV or not. When it doesn't some pixels show up as bright flashes on the screen (usually several random bright flashes that appear to make the picture sparkle). This can happen when a smaller gauge cable is used for longer runs resulting in too much signal loss.
