“Why do my non-blu ray dvd disks look AWFUL on this tv? We have a blu ray player where blu ray + non-blu ray disks looked great on out 11 year old Samsung. Now they look horrible! What gives?”

No problem with DVD blue ray
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Oh we know this so well. The superior quality of the new Samsung is greater than the old. By far it feels you are watching a VHS tape. Not your fault, just over all quality and pixels really show the gaps. And you are right looks bad on the new Samsung. Just like you we had top of the line Samsung Blu Ray player changed to Sony still the same. We are streaming now new movies Awesome. Depending what year old movie was remastered quality still comes in so so. Best of luck friend we are still figuring out this new technology as it comes out. It's a challenge every time.
