• You do not have to use the steam to use these you can use it as normal dryer

• Absolutely. The steam feature does not have to be utilized. When we setup ours we found that the location of the hoses caused an inability for us to connect. We ended up having to run the unit without the steam hookup before buying an extra hose and coupler.

• Yes you can. You just don't use the "wrinkle free" setting which uses the steam on the dryer..

• Thanks for your interest in the DV42H5400EF. It's fine to operate the Dryer without using the Steam feature if you aren't planning to connect it to water. It may interest you to know, however, that the Dryer can be connected directly to a cold water supply separate from the Washer if you have water access nearby. - Ms. Samsung
