As long as you have a additional 2.5” drive bay it should work without any problem. What I do is replace the hd drive with the SSD and put the HD drive in the secondary bay, then reinstall my OS on the SSD and programs on the HD drive.

I went through trying to change out a 500GB HD with another maker's 480 SSD as the primary drive, and there was not re-imaging software provided. Check the Samsung web site for support for this drive and see if the cloning software can downsize the HD partition, change the sector size as needed, etc. Plus I have provided links to products Best Buy sells if you do want to clone the primary drive.

While you won't gain any add'l storage space (since you are transferring from one 500GB drive to another), this drive is considerably faster and you will experience a significant performance boost.
