Ernest, no the drive comes uninitialized, so you will have to pick Master Boot Record (MBR) or GUID Partition Table (GPT) when you put it in a system with Windows installed. From there, you can partition and format at your discretion.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, you have to format it. I cloned my old hard drive to this chip and in that case formatting beforehand is not necessary.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yessir, everything is operational after you install it correctly. You can however download the Samsung Magician tool after installation if you would like up-to-date alerts regarding your SSD and the ability to boost it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it doesn't come formatted. You have connect it to an external enclosure and format it using the Windows drive management. If you are installing cleanly the OS might format it automatically when it installs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Under disk management you should see the drive listed under a letter or you can choose the letter or a name to call it. You have to go through two steps which consists of creating the volume of NTFS and it will show the readable space of the drive which is it's default value(you only have to click ok or next once it highlights it readable space or choose how much space if you want to have another partition). Once you go through those two options windows can then detect the drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Most all new drives are never formatted when purchased new. Disk manager in Windows will allow you to initialize and format the drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it does not
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It worked for me. Just popped it in. Bios detected it and I did a fresh install of windows on it. So I would say that it was formatted for windows. Not sure if it would do the same on a mac setup or not but it could.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had to create a partition with mine. After first boot the drive was showing as "unallocated", but was no problem at all getting it up and running.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, the solid state drive must be formatted.
