You must have a M2 NVME compliant socket on the motherboard that is supported in your machines BIOS. Sometimes a BIOS upgrade is necessary prior to the SSD being recognized. It makes an awesome bootable volume and you can usually mirror image your previous Hard drive or SSD drive to the M2 SSD drive once it is installed. In a desktop you have an additional option of inserting a M2 NVME complaint PCI-E card into one of the spare PCI-Express slots in your machine if you have no M2 socket on your motherboard. Look at your owners manual for the above details. (Sometimes you will need to go to the HP site and download the manual).
