• Best Buy told me it could with a special tool. Don't know what tool they were speaking of. I do wish one could take it on and put it back on easily.

• Yes it can! Underneath the washer lid, where the sink/basket connects to the lid, you can press on a "latch" on either side to release it. It does not affect the workings of the machine. I found this out by doing some investigative work for my Mom who needs a new washer!

• The ActiveWash sink in the WA52J8700AW isn't designed to be removed, but attaches to the lid so it can lift up and out of the way when not in use. Thanks for your interest, Ms. Samsung
